Viver is a municipality in the Alto Palancia region, 14 km. from Navajas, surrounded by the foothills of the Iberian Mountain ranges and open to the Mediterranean Sea via the course of the Palancia river, the main geographical feature of the area, into which the town’s numerous springs flow, including the San Miguel Fountain, Herragudo Fountain and the Chana Fountain. Other essential natural elements of Viver are the Floresta Park, which crosses the municipality offering a varied and lush vegetation, and the Sargal spot, located next to the Palancia riverbed, where we can enjoy caves from the Palaeolithic period.
In the town centre we cannot miss the Mayor Square, rebuilt after the Civil War by `Regiones Devastadas´, the Ángel Square next to the Virgen de Gracia Parish Church, the Santa Bárbara Hermitage or the old wine vats that are preserved and can be seen at street level. No less important is the CIBAL, the Interpretation Centre of the Battle of Levante (located in the Convent and Hermitage of San Francisco de Paula), which has a permanent exhibition through which the events of the Spanish Civil War are remembered and which can serve as a starting point to discover the ‘Frente de Viver’ and the numerous remains of the conflict that are scattered throughout the municipality of the town.
The most important festivities are the local festivities which are held between September and October, the August festivals with the celebration of San Roque on 15th August and the Olive Oil Festival which is usually held in June in the Floresta Park.
