Following the holidays, `Caminando por Navajas´ has organised a beautiful walk through the trenches of Jérica for this month. The walk will take place on SATURDAY 18 APRIL.
The route follows a local path known as ‘the Trench Trail’, whose main attraction is the Vegatilla Trench, which belonged to the XYZ Line. The command centre for this line was in Viver, and it formed part of the 14 sections that, stretching from Almenara (Castellón) to Santa Cruz de Moya (Cuenca), made up this Republican defensive line to halt the advance of the Nationalists during the Spanish Civil War.
A circular route covering around 9.5 kilometres, taking approximately four hours and with an elevation gain of 310 metres. As it is of medium difficulty, comfortable clothing, walking poles, a hat, hiking boots, flip-flops (for crossing water), a packed lunch and water are recommended. The meeting point will be in Navajas, at the Salto de la Novia monument at 08:00, from where we will travel by car to Viver, the starting point of the route.
Come and spend a morning enjoying nature and our history!!
