Total Solar Eclipse 2026

On 12 August 2026, a total eclipse will pass over Greenland and Iceland before setting over Spain; at which point, Navajas will be in total eclipse from 20:31:40 to 20:33:05, with a partial eclipse visible for 1 hour and 46 minutes, from 19:37 until 21:23 in the evening.

But what does it mean to be in the path of totality? This is truly special because, for a brief moment, along its narrow path, the moon will completely cover the sun, turning day into night; then the sky will change, the air will cool, and the solar corona will appear. We cannot experience this during a partial eclipse, even when coverage is 99%, so being in the path of totality makes Navajas a prime spot to enjoy the eclipse.

Furthermore, we must find the best possible spot to enjoy the event, as an eclipse does not occur directly overhead everywhere, and the sun’s position in the sky affects how it is experienced. For example, when the sun is too low, trees, buildings and hills can partially block the view, even within the path of the eclipse; in these cases, small changes in position at our exact observation point can help. That is why we recommend choosing in advance the spot from which you will view the eclipse so that you can experience it in the best possible conditions.

Below you can see the position of the sun relative to the town of Navajas during the peak of the eclipse, with the shaded areas where the eclipse is expected to be visible in its entirety:

Another important point to bear in mind is that during the moments of totality, when the Sun is completely covered by the Moon, it is safe to look at it directly with the naked eye; however, before and after totality, when any part of the Sun remains visible, we must wear certified eclipse glasses to protect our eyes (look for ISO 12312-2 on the label of the glasses to ensure your eyes are protected).

We invite you to choose Navajas as your spot to enjoy the 2026 solar eclipse, an eclipse that will occur around sunset, adding an extra touch of beauty with warm colours on the horizon, in a brief but breathtaking moment you won’t forget.
